Padmaja Chunduru is MD & CEO of NSDL since Sept. 2021, after a 37-years stint in the Baning industry with the State Bank of India and Indian Bank. A Post Graduate of Commerce from Andhra University, Padmaja joined SBI in 1984 as a Probationary Officer In a career spaning more than 3 decades, with postings in India and USA, she gained rich experience in Corporate Lending and Credit Management, Retail Operations and Digital Banking, Tresury and International Operations. Ms. Padmaja has extensive Board experience: Chairman –Indian Bank Board – 2018-21. Member – LIC Board – 2018-21. Member – NCPI Board – 2018. As MD & CEO, National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) {Oct 2021 - Present} MD & CEO, Indian Bank, {Sep 2018 - Aug 2021}, she successfully steered the merger of Allahabad Bank into Indian Bank amid Covid challenges. Significant improvement in all key metrics and the empathetic handling of the cultural integration of two diverse banks was the subject of a case study "Merger of Equals" by Harvard Business School Publishing. Padmaja was also the Deputy Managing Director, Digital Banking between 2017-18 of State Bank of India. Designed and oversaw strategic planning, business activity, risk management, and compliance in all the US offices of the State Bank of India primarily engaged in deposit raising and corporate lending.
